OUR COMPANY

U.S. LUMBER SERVES OUR CUSTOMERS AND SUPPLIERS WITH A LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIVENESS THAT IS UNMATCHED IN OUR INDUSTRY.

U.S. LUMBER is a privately held two-step distributor of specialty building materials serving much of North America. Our founder, Lawrence Newton, started U.S. LUMBER in a single location in Birmingham, Alabama in 1988. In the more than 30 years’ since Lawrence began chasing this dream, U.S. LUMBER has grown geographically by opening new markets organically, and in recent years by acquiring Boston Cedar, NILCO, Midwest Lumber, and Alexandria Moulding.

Over time we have consistently enhanced our product and service offerings while remaining committed to maintaining the highest standard of trust with our customers and suppliers. Today our company serves over 15,000 customer locations in the United States and Canada with more than 50 categories of unique specialty building products.

OUR PEOPLE

U.S. LUMBER is a “VALUES” based organization. We seek to serve people first, and we operate according to a moral compass aimed at doing what is right even when it is hard. U.S. LUMBER brings this values-based perspective to each of our employees, our customers, our suppliers, and our communities. We do not underestimate the power of our employee’s ability to have a uniquely positive impact on the people around us.

We are proud to have the best team in our industry. We have experienced a tremendous amount of growth as a company. This growth has served not only our customer base, but has also provided significant opportunities for advancement amongst our employees.

OUR SUPPLIERS & PRODUCTION

Our supply partners represent the industry's best manufacturers of both forest products and wood alternative products. We inventory the broadest and deepest selection of specialty building materials in our industry. U.S. LUMBER has aggregated together many products and items from complex supply chains. These are products that are difficult for our customers to buy directly from the manufacturers in the quantities that they need in the lead times that their customers require.
