Ron Ross

Chairman of the Board

Ronald Ross has built an impressive leadership track record and reputation in the building products industry. Over a period of 45 years, Mr. Ross has acquired in depth expertise in all aspects of the building products industry including manufacturing, supply chain management, operations, sales, marketing, accounting and finance. He has particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, managing a public company and in turnaround and startup operations. For the last 31 years, he has functioned at the CEO/Chairman/Board level.

From May 2006 through February 2013, Mr. Ross worked with AEA Investors, LP (AEA) to implement a buy and build strategy in the roofing distribution business.  On February 29, 2008 AEA and Mr. Ross completed the first acquisition, Suncoast Roofers Supply.  Since then, SRS has expanded from 8 locations in Florida to more than 600 locations in 47 states through more than 150 acquisitions and the opening over 160 greenfield start-up locations.  The Company now operates as the 2nd largest Roofing distributor in the U.S. with sales exceeding $7.0 billion.

On February 28, 2013, SRS was purchased by Berkshire Partners, a private equity firm located in Boston, MA, along with various members of management for 11.7X trailing EBIDTA with an IRR of over 50%.

On May 23, 2018 SRS was purchased by Leonard Green Partners, Berkshire Partners and management for16X trailing EBITDA with an IRR of over 40%. SRS’s continuing goal is to expand the company through additional greenfield openings, strategic acquisitions and the organic growth of its existing network.

He has served on the Board of Directors of SRS Distribution (as Chairman since 2/29/13), Gypsum Management Supply (a leading distributor of wallboard, ceilings, grid and interior metal framing products), the Builders Suppliers Corporation (an association of 20 roofing and building product wholesale distributors) as well as the North American Building Material Distributors Association (NABMDA), a leading building products distribution industry trade association.

Mr. Ross received a Master of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Husson College, a private business school in Bangor, Maine. He majored in Accounting and Finance with minors in Sales and Marketing.

Mr. Ross is married to Deanna (50 years).  They have 4 children, 6 grand children and own Triple “R” Ranch & Winery and Lone Star Wine Cellars.  He enjoys college sports, raising exotic deer and making wine.
